A healthy set of teeth are important for every individual to maintain that confident smile and fresh breath. However, we all suffer from some dental issue at one time or the other. Dental issues can be painful and troublesome, which if not treated in time, can lead to serious dental conditions or tooth loss. To prevent such oral health issues, everyone must follow simple best practices daily. Brushing the teeth twice a day, flossing, eating the right kind of food, and visiting the dentist with good a dental practice in Powell, TN, at regular intervals will keep most of the oral health issues at bay.

Most common dental issues:

  • Gum Disease: Gum disease is a common dental issue that is caused by bacterial infection due to the accumulation of plaque in your mouth. Such diseases are also called gingivitis or periodontal disease. The main symptoms of this disease are bad breath, painful gums, soreness, bleeding gums, etc. Not taking care of oral health puts everyone at risk of contracting gum diseases. To minimize the pain and treat it you must see a dentist to prevent further complications like tooth loss.
  • Tooth sensitivity: This is another popular dental problem faced by many people around the world. The key symptom of this issue involves experiencing pain or discomfort in the teeth when you drink cold drinks, eat sweets, have hot drinks, ice-creams, etc. Sometimes tooth sensitivity can cause discomfort when one tries to floss or brush their teeth. This issue can also be addressed by following good oral hygiene practices. Using fluoride paste to brush and reducing the consumption of sugary foods also helps in preventing it.
  • Tooth Decay: Tooth decay or dental cavities are the most painful dental issues. Over time, acids eat away your tooth enamel and form holes. This bad lifestyle of consuming food that is harmful to your teeth leads to such issues. If you do not treat cavities on time, then it will lead to an abscess or gum infection, eventually leading to tooth loss.
  • Bad breath: Bad breath, also known as halitosis, is quite distressing and can affect your quality of life. These can be accused of several factors like poor oral hygiene, dry mouth, medication, cavities, infection, acid reflux, and cancer.

Oral health issues can affect your general health, confidence, and quality of life. Therefore, you must follow oral health best practices to prevent such issues. Also, you must make routine dental visits to check if your teeth are healthy and treat on time any oral health condition to maintain your overall health.
